Caveman Grammar

I get the same reaction from people today when I correct their grammar.  Usually, I'm lucky, though, since they either don't have a club to hit me with, or I'm fast enough to run away.

Can I vs. May I

I don't know about any of you, but I hate it when people are such sticklers for the difference between "Can I?" and "May I?" For example....

Person 1: Can I go to the bathroom?

Person 2: Well, I certainly hope so; that would be a problem if you couldn't.

Person 1: ...#$&@ you.

It's not that big of a deal! "Can I?" and "May I?" both work! So, in retaliation, I have a couple of comics that I found online... As always, don't forget that you can enlarge the pictures by clicking on them! (They might be too hard to read if you don't).

The Ugly Truth Behind Figures of Speech

Have you ever thought about what figures of speech would actually look like if you took them literally? I happened to find this little tidbit while randomly searching on the Internet for who knows what :P I MIGHT have been on Stumbleupon.com, but I can't even remember now.
