A Post Where Emmy Just Writes and Writes and Writes...

Having one of those moments where I just want to curl up in the corner and read EVERYTHING forever.  And it's kinda great.  I haven't felt like that in a long time.  Sometimes, I feel as though being an English major is squashing my love of books...like being forced to read is making me hate it or something.  Nice to know that the passion is still there, though.

So, this is going to be a bit of a bigger update, since I've been pretty AWOL lately.  I hadn't been blogging much for the past few months, but OF's passing has made it even more difficult to get back online and write.  And I desperately want to write.

Things have been a bit stressful lately.  Classes are taking up a lot of time, and I'm still trying to keep up a social life on top of all that, which makes for a lot of stress and things not getting done.  I'm getting bogged down in projects and stuff, and people make me feel bad for complaining because they have more to do.  It bothers me sometimes, because I feel that just because I have less work, it doesn't mean it's not overwhelming, and I'm not sleep deprived, too.  Watching cat videos on the Internet is my way of relaxing; I'm not a lazy-ass.

Ranting over.  So, the guy I had mentioned before?  Yeah, not working out.  He's kind of a snake who flirts with me like crazy, and only told me that he had a girlfriend when I asked him.  At first, though, I thought I could be overreacting, so I was just going to drop it, but he insisted on talking to me about it, so that he could explain himself.  So, I let him.  And we had a great conversation.  Then, though, he took that as his "okay" to basically cling to me like a very horny shadow.  And I'm not really cool with that.  I mean, we could be friends, but I'm experiencing slight trust issues from this, and I just need a bit of space.  Instead, he comes running back, trying to act like he's my boyfriend.  And while I would  be perfectly happy to have another male friend, I think that these advances he's making at me are a bit too forward.

I've talked about him to some of my guy friends.  Movie Boy says that this guy is either in love with me, or he's a psychopath.  Either alternative is not ideal, but I'd prefer the first one.  And another male friend (who is in the same class as the Snake and myself), says that not only is he positive that this guy is really into me, but that he's been getting bad vibes off him, and that there is something wrong with him, and I should stay away.  How comforting, am I right?

Work has been blissfully quiet.  I'm having a wonderful time.  I've been getting homework done.  And I'm BLOGGING!  I'm so happy!

I've started reading Jasper Fforde's latest book The Last Dragonslayer in my free time.  This guy is brilliant! :)

Irish Lit is focusing on James's Joyce's short story "The Dead".  I've read and reread a 14 page essay on new historicism in "The Dead" about three times now.  It is so boring!  I feel my brain turning to soup as I read.  I wouldn't care so much, except I have to be able to discuss it in class.....in a group with two other people...while the whole class watches us. How awkward.  Why can't we just make it a presentation??

My writer crush has asked me to read his work and give feedback.  Do you know how amazing that is for me????  I just want him to write things at me.  His literary genius is beautiful.  I'm thrilled :)

Okay, so I think that's enough for now.   It was nice to actually blog a bit again.  Hope y'all are well.  I would love to hear from you :)

Pondering

Sorry I've been so AWOL....(God, I feel like I'm always saying that recently).  But, I seriously have been really busy with stuff here.

And that leads me to the important bit here....I'm starting to consider actually posting more personal things on this blog (or a completely new one, not sure).  I feel like I kinda want to stop hiding behind a computer screen, not even letting any of you know where I'm from or what I look like.  I don't know....I mean, I don't even have Facebook, and EVERYONE has Facebook.  I guess I've just really been thinking about things like that recently, and I feel like I'm either going to get a Facebook, or post pictures and information on the blog.  Doesn't mean I'm going to give you guys my home address or anything like that, but I might say which state I'm from, or possibly agree to meet up with some of you if you're in the area.  Please don't get too excited, though, since I'll prolly be sitting on this for a really long time...

So, just thought I'd get that out there.  Hope to be posting more often...

xo,

Emmy

What Do You Want From Me?

I know I haven't been writing much lately.  I've just been very busy, and on the rare occasions when I actually have time to write, I can't think of anything worth saying.  So, my dear readers, I'm turning to you!

What do you want me to write about?

Did you like it better when I blogged about books?  Ranted about guys?  Reviewed films?  You tell me what you'd like to see on this blog, and I'll see what I can do with your suggestions :)

I look forward to hearing from you!

Happy Birthday, Ramblings! (And a few updates)

Hey, guys!  Ramblings of a Devoted Bookworm officially turns TWO today!  I can't believe it's been two years since I started blogging in my freshman dorm room one grey and chilly day in February.  From that point onward, this blog has taken a lot of twists and changes.  I think I might try and revert back to a bit more of the "literary" side of things, which I've been neglecting recently, but for right now, I'm not going to change too much....I just don't have the time, haha.

But, I hope all of you are doing well, and that you are having a wonderful, wacky, and Wilde Wednesday :)  For those of you who celebrated Marti Gras last night, I hope you had a great time!  And for those of you who are celebrating Ash Wednesday today like I am, I hope you have a happy start to Lent.

Also, I wanted to update you all on the reading assignments for my classes (for those of you who are reading along with me).  By this point, I was expected to have finished Moll Flanders, French Lieutenant's Woman, Age of Innocence, Farewell to Arms, and be almost finished with Tender is the Night, while reading Tom Jones and Midnight's Children right now.  Just to put all your minds at ease, I've only finished Age of Innocence.  But, if you're reading any of the others, you're pretty much on the right track (and I'd be happy to discuss Age of Innocence with anyone who wants to.

Okay, so I think that's enough for one blog post.....Hope you all have a wonderful day, and I'll be back and blogging with you again real soon.  Ciao!

Blogger is Being Stupid...

And it won't let me post comments on anyone's blogs, or even read them.  If you comment on my blog, however, since I moderate the comments I'll still be able to read them.  However, once they're published, I can't access them.  So, please don't feel like I'm ignoring you if I don't respond to a comment, or if I don't comment on your blogs.  I read every comment y'all post on my blog, and I'm still reading all of your blogs, too.....Just, I can't comment for some reason.  This is a new development that started on Tuesday, and I'm currently looking into things.  I apologize for the inconvenience!

The New Blog

Hey, guys! Here's the link to my movie review blog...

http://www.cinemasweetheart.blogspot.com/
You don't have to subscribe if you don't want to...this is mostly just for people who are really interested in learning about new movies. Currently, I just have an introduction post, but I'm going to have movie reviews up very soon, so check in ;)

Don't worry...Ramblings isn't going anywhere...Cinema Sweetheart is just a side project that I wanted to work on since I joined my school's film club.

Have a good night, everyone!

Movie Blog

Thanks to a display of interest from several of you, I've decided to do the movie blog. I just have a few questions for you guys...First, do you have any ideas for blog titles? And also, do you have any ideas for profile names? I was hoping for something catchy, like a cooler version of "Movie Girl" or "Film Fan". Any ideas?

Another Blog?

I'm thinking about starting another blog...this one completely devoted to movie reviews, trivia, clips, and publicity stills. The question I have is this: how many of you would subscribe to this new blog? (Don't feel bad if you wouldn't; that's completely okay, I'm just asking). The only thing that would be different is that I'd control this blog via a different account, so I could give out the link to more people I know (I kinda like the anonymous quality of this one...you all know this is Emmy, but just Emmy...and most of the people I write about don't know that this is me. I'd like to give out a link for a movie blog to some of the people in the Cinema Society I belong to, but at the same time, I don't want all of them to know about what I write here....does that make sense? I'm not sure if it does or not...if it doesn't, please tell me (or tell me if it does, too :P) But, please, either way, let me know if you'd be interested in a movie blog. Not sure yet if I'll do it, but wanted to get some feedback on it all the same.

Just a Quick Note...

I just wanted to let all of you guys know that after tomorrow, I'm not going to be posting anything for the rest of the month. I'm going on vacation, and since I don't bring my computer with me, I won't have access to the Internet to update my blog and to comment on all of yours. It's a bit bittersweet for me; I'm very excited about going on vacation, but I'm going to miss reading your blogs and posting things on mine.

I will still post a Weekly Wodehouse quote tomorrow, but there won't be one next Sunday. I'll try to maybe post one right when I get back, or I might just skip the week entirely (I'm not sure).

I hope you guys all have an amazing two weeks until we see each other again!

On Second Thought...

I think I'm going to take that bit about WHAT I'M READING out of the sidebar, and just blog about the books in blog postings. I can't find a spot in the sidebar where I like how it fits. And if I don't think its perfect, its going to bother me and I won't be able to concentrate :P
