Good Reads

Hey!  Just curious, but do any of you have an account on www.goodreads.com?  I've just started an account, and so far, I have no friends on the site.  I was wondering if any of my wonderful bloggers would happen to have accounts as well?  I'd love to friend you on the site :)

If you have an account, and would like to friend me, please include your user name in the comments.  If you don't want me to post your comment on Ramblings, then just include something along the times of "don't post this" somewhere in your comment :)

Returning

I move back onto campus this weekend.....where did my summer go?

As much as I'm looking forward to school and friends, I'm going to miss my family and certain routines and freedoms that I have at home that I won't get at school (such as access to the car).  But, mostly, I think I'm going to miss just spending time with everyone; even if we were doing nothing at all.  There's something so nice about having dinner with the entire family, about sitting around the table and just talking about our day.  Of course, I get to do that at school with my friends (who I've missed TONS), but it's just not quite the same.

Looking forward to this year though.  New classes, a new job, and new friends to be made.  Plus, I have a new roommate (an old friend) which should be interesting to say the least, and I'm looking forward to our time together :)

Hats

Sarah and I went out fedora shopping today.  I didn't get anything, but she found a very cute charcoal and white pinstripe basket-weave fedora that looks really stylish on her.  I found one I rather liked, but thought it was too much like the one I already had, so I decided not to buy it.

But, I have a question for you guys.....Does it make me weird or a geek because I could identify the differences between a straw fedora and a straw homburg? :P  I think it just might....

P.S. I want to thank Sarah for the most epic day!  NOTHING beats hat shopping, makeovers, getting completely lost, and blasting Les Miserables on the radio (and of course our jokes about Javert!  I would list them here, but I think out of context, they would make us look rather insensitive, lol.)

Keeping in Touch?

Today, I sent out two emails to old friends that I haven't heard from in the longest time...I do this once every two/three months or so. The hardest part is that I NEVER heard back from them. EVER. It's frustrating, because I really miss them, but I feel like they don't care enough to respond, since its been at least two years since I've heard from either of them. I know I shouldn't be petty about this, so I just keep on emailing them. Do you think I should just give up?

One is my friend from fencing club. He was going through a really rough time in his life, and more than anything, I wanted to be there for him. I had the biggest crush on him when we were still in contact, and I even asked him to go to prom with me. Things fell apart, and not only could he not go to prom with me, but he transferred at the end of the school year. I called him once, in the summer, and he said he was in school and had to go. He was supposed to call me back, and I never heard from him. I'd love to call him, but I'm scared to, because I don't even know what I would say to him.

The other friend went to high school with me. We hung out in the same group and had a lot in common. However, she went off to med school, and disappeared from the face of the earth. Even her closest friends have not heard much from her, and in general, we've all given up. I used to send her letters at college, but stopped when I never heard from her.
So, what do you guys think? What should I do?

Finals Week....

Finals week is almost at an end....FINALLY. I'm very lonely here, though, since most of my friends went home, and those who are here are busy studying for finals. I'd call one of those who went home (I actually have a certain professor in mind), but I don't want to come across as that lame, clingy person who calls as soon as you leave because she misses you. It's just that I'm lonely and want someone to talk to...is that so bad? :(

Luckily, before she left, the wonderful Roomie gave me cookies made of sugar, butter, and pure joy, which have been a life-saver :P

The Hug

I hug you, because we're friends,
but when I go to pull away,
you still hold onto me.
And I'm trapped for a second
in the gentle warmth of your embrace.
That one second felt like an eternity
because I sensed something from you
that I could not feel in myself.
But even so...
I think I'd still hug you again.

Done.

Well, that's it. I'm. Done. School is officially over for the year. I can't believe it! I took my Latin final, was okay with how I feel I did, called some friends, almost cried on multiple occasions, and now, I'm sitting alone in the dorm (the Roomie is gone; back to "God's Country," USA) and eating the most yummy salt pretzel bagel I've had. (Thank you so much, Roomie's Dad!)

Its weird being here right now. It feels almost surreal, like no way in hell I'm not going to be in this dorm anymore! No. Way. Next year is going to be fun, but I love my room, I love the view from the window, and I love the people.

*Chomp chomp*...mmm! Really good bagel :)

So many thoughts are running through my head. I'm confused about so many things...relationships, friends, and how am I going to survive the summer without these people that I've grown so close to...

I am looking forward to summer, though. I mean, I have friends to hang out with, people to see, and places to go. Its not going to be all bad, but its going to be really, really weird. I'm looking forward to spending time with my family though. I've missed them a lot over the past couple of weeks. I guess there is good and bad in every situation.

...And ONE MORE...!

I'm almost done! I have two more finals done (Psychology and Classical Mythology) and now I'm down to the "final" final...Latin. That one is going to be a bitch. Right now, my hands are so cramped up that I can barely type; holding a pencil is even harder. I was writing constantly for all those finals, and I'm just ready to be done. The hardest part is that this is my last one and my hardest. I don't want to slip up now; I'm almost finished!

Thank you to Javmango, Steven, and Chess who have been so supportive of me the past week. (Thank you to everyone else who has sent me the encouraging comments, too, but these three have been above and beyond :") I really appreciate it!) I've been stressing about finals, freaking out, and bursting with happiness, and in the end, you guys are always backing me up.

I have another question for all of you...Should I give Professor Thomas the link to this blog? He's actually already asked for it, and I kinda stalled, because I wasn't sure. What do you guys think?

I don't know how much I'm going to be posting over the summer, since I'm not on my compy as much when I'm at home, but I'll try to keep you all up to date. Its going to be hard for me, at least for the first couple of weeks, because I'm not going to have the Roomie and Professor Thomas there every day anymore. (I have a lot of people I'm going to miss over the summer, but these two are like my best friends, and they live too far away to see much over the summer. Kiity, Matt, and Courtney live closer, so that shouldn't be a problem. I have no desire to see Willoughby after some of the things he has said to me lately, and as for Odysseus, even though he lives close to me, I don't know where we stand anymore. He's been avoiding me for a while, and now, out of the blue, he's being nice again, and acknowledging me and talking to me. He even initiated conversation! :-O Shocking! I'm going to ask him to go for a walk once I finish this post, and maybe I can figure some stuff out...

Love you guys!

The Last Weekend (Bittersweet)

As I'm sure you've guessed from the title, this is to be my last weekend on campus. After that, the wonderful Roomie and I are to be separated for three whole months, and the chances of seeing any of my other friends are pretty slim as well, seeing as they all live pretty far away. I'm really, really going to miss them.

This weekend is bittersweet. Part of me wants to take advantage of it as much as I can, enjoying life to the fullest and spending all my time with everyone. Unfortunately, its also Mother's Day weekend, and yes, I miss my family a lot. However, as much as I really want to see them today, I just keep on telling myself that in less than a week, we're going to be together again. Less than a week. I won't see my friends for three months. Still...

Okay, okay, I'll just get it out in the open. My parents want me to come home this weekend. I told them that I wanted to stay and see my friends for the last time. My parents were supposed to come up and have lunch to celebrate Mother's Day. Now, they want me to come home and stay home for the weekend, but that means giving up all my plans for time with my friends. I know I'm being selfish, but I liked it better before they started tampering with a game plan that we had established about a month and a half ago, which was that they come in for lunch, and I stay here for the last time.

I hope everything works out in the end. I don't know what to do.
