Fruit Fast

Today I got an email from my dad about the benefits of fruit. Stuff like "eat fresh fruit on an empty stomach" and how fruit has been shown in some studies to cure cancer. Toward the bottom of the email, was a detailed little bit about a "Fruit Fast," which basically involves eating nothing but fruit (fresh, not canned) and drinking nothing but fruit juice (again, fresh) for three days. I'm going to supplement it by also drinking water, but apart from that, I'm going to be eating nothing but fruit. From the email...

But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse your body. Just eat fruits and drink fruit juice throughout the 3 days and you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look!

So, today I stocked up on some Red Delicious Apples and fruit juice. Of course, the dining hall has fruit, so this is just stuff is just for breakfast and perhaps a snack. I'm going to start as of now, I think. I'm very excited. Its going to be a little over three days (three days morning to night plus one afternoon/dinner) but I think it'll have the same effect. After my fruit fast is over, I'll be able to tell you all about how it turned out :)

  1. Drinking nothing but fruit juice is a great way to get diabetes. A glass of fruit juice contains the sugar of many pieces of fruit. It's hard to overdose on fruit, but it's easy to overload on sugar from fruit juice. If you're gonna eat lots of fruit, then drink plenty of water. You'll get enough sugar from the fruit.

    Stay safe :).

  2. Hmmm...I had never thought of that. Very well, then...I will just drink water and supplement it with fruit juice; that way, I won't have too much. Thank you for enlightening me to that. Luckily, its only for three days, right?

  4. Emmy, this is an interesting experiment. Please post details of how often you eat, which fruits, if you feel hungry, and so one. Good luck!

  5. Can't wait for the results! Also- might I ask a question? What's that? I already have? Several in fact? Well can I ask one more? What? I just did?

    This is tricky.

Anyway... How many comments have people posted that you don't want? Is it a number that warrants this approval system you use? Is there a way that I can be informed if my comment has been responded to? How do you like your eggs? Do you prefer crunchy or smooth peanut butter?

  6. @TSC...

I have my comments set that I have to read them before they are posted because I have a big ego and it makes me feel special and happy to read each comment as it comes on the blog. :P

If you want to be updated to comment responses, I'm sure there's an option for you to sign up for responses. I'll have to check and see if I've turned it on or not, but once its on, if you select it, you'll get a response every time someone else posts a comment on this entry, including me.

    I like my eggs sunny-side-up.

    Crunchy.
