Another Update

There's something in the air, I think.  Or maybe, it's just midterms making us all crazy.  Things just don't seem quite normal today.  For one, I'm going through these random cravings, where all I want to do is eat peanut butter.  I'm in love with it lately.

Also, random boys have started talking to me.  (Not that I'm really concerned about what random boys think; I just don't have any real desire to date right now.  Perhaps, when the right guy comes I'll be ready).  But, random boys who never really talk to me have started talking to me; and it's been really nice.  Random girls who talk to me have been a bit distant, but I've been popular with the boys (not in a dating sense; guys just treat me like a little brother or cousin).

In addition to this, I had a crazy episode this morning, where I sent out an email to my professor, thinking I had missed class, only to realize that it was not a 9:00 class, but a 10:00.  So, when I got to class, I had to apologize to the professor for the weird email, since it was completely wrong.  Note to self....need to get a new alarm clock; my current one doesn't go off anymore.

Wilde Wednesdays #8

Happy Birthday, Ramblings! (And a few updates)

Hey, guys!  Ramblings of a Devoted Bookworm officially turns TWO today!  I can't believe it's been two years since I started blogging in my freshman dorm room one grey and chilly day in February.  From that point onward, this blog has taken a lot of twists and changes.  I think I might try and revert back to a bit more of the "literary" side of things, which I've been neglecting recently, but for right now, I'm not going to change too much....I just don't have the time, haha.

But, I hope all of you are doing well, and that you are having a wonderful, wacky, and Wilde Wednesday :)  For those of you who celebrated Marti Gras last night, I hope you had a great time!  And for those of you who are celebrating Ash Wednesday today like I am, I hope you have a happy start to Lent.

Also, I wanted to update you all on the reading assignments for my classes (for those of you who are reading along with me).  By this point, I was expected to have finished Moll Flanders, French Lieutenant's Woman, Age of Innocence, Farewell to Arms, and be almost finished with Tender is the Night, while reading Tom Jones and Midnight's Children right now.  Just to put all your minds at ease, I've only finished Age of Innocence.  But, if you're reading any of the others, you're pretty much on the right track (and I'd be happy to discuss Age of Innocence with anyone who wants to.

Okay, so I think that's enough for one blog post.....Hope you all have a wonderful day, and I'll be back and blogging with you again real soon.  Ciao!

Musical Parodies #2

Here's the second installment of musical parodies.  I hope you guys enjoyed the first one :)

So, if Rachel sees this, she's prolly going to kill me...so don't tell her...Shhhh.  (jk, jk...)

So, here's Whataya Want from Me? by Adam Lambert....

The End of The Boy

Do you guys remember "The Boy"?  I talked about him a couple of times, before finally deciding that he was too hot and cold for me, and that I was better off without him?  Yeah, well, I've been realizing these past few days that I was not as "over him" as I thought I was.  And today, when he happened to come up in conversation, and my friend (who knew nothing of this) told me how funny and crazy he was....and once I revealed that I had a crush on him, she told me sadly that he was "obsessed" with one of her friends.  She gave a name; not that it really matters; I don't know the girl.  I managed to save face, but the whole thing hit me like a sandbag.  I guess it was easier for me when I didn't think that he liked anyone, or that he was incapable of loving (doesn't that just sound MEAN?  Omg...), or EVEN when I thought he was interested in one of MY friends (they always talk), because I could tell she wasn't interested in HIM.  And even if she was, I could NEVER hold it against her.

Still, this was really hard to take.  I'm starting to go numb, which is better than my original reaction, but as always, it doesn't feel good.  I'm considering skipping my next class, because I have it with him, and there's only one person sitting between us.  But, since I have another class in the same room after that, it doesn't make sense to skip; I'll be caught by the professor before you can say "Cheap Russian Vodka".

Musical Parodies #1

After spending way too much time on YouTube instead of doing my homework, I came across several fun vidoes that were parodies of other songs.  As of right now, I have three lined up, but there might be more if this proves to be popular with all of you.

So, here's the original song first (in case you didn't know it beforehand, or wanted your memory refreshed), and after that is the parody song.  I think the three I have so far are fun because not only does it parody the song, but it makes fun of the music video.  For me, that's just an added bonus :)

Enjoy!  First up is Safety Dance by Men Without Hats.

Happy Fedora Day!

Hope everyone had an amazing Fedora Day!  (or Valentine's Day for all of you in relationships).  Not much happened to me today, but I've been talking to Charles online, and he's been making me feel like I want to burst with happy.  I really wish he lived closer to me....

But, on a different note, I found this adorable video, and I thought I'd share it with all of you.

So There's This Guy...

And no, this is not going the way y'all are probably thinking its going.

So, there's this guy.  And he's been creeping on my friends and I for several weeks now.  We first realized there was something going on when we went with a group from campus to go and see a play.  He sat a few seats in front of us on the bus (with a friend sitting across the aisle), but all of a sudden, he just randomly asked us for the time.  1.) Check your phone.  2.) Check your friend's phone....But anyways, as we continued the drive back to campus, we kept catching him leaning back to hear what we were saying, even interjecting every once in a while to respond to some witty comment one of us had made.  And it didn't end there, either.

He always used to sit on the completely opposite end of the cafeteria, but has taken to sitting at the table right behind us, and pushes his chair out so far that we're nearly back to back with each other.  And it's obvious he's listening to our conversations.  And it's not just the cafeteria; we see him all over campus.

We're all starting to get really sick of him, but at the risk of sounding rude, we've been biting our tongues.  If this goes on much longer, though, we all have some choice words for him.  I don't want to say he's stalking us, but I'm really getting pissed at his eavesdropping and creeping.  I don't even need a legit boyfriend right now, and I most definitely do NOT need a creeper.

My First Valentine 2012

So...I know it's a day early, but it looks like I've gotten my first Valentine :)

I met this amazing, nerdy guy online, and we've really hit it off.  He's sweet, a great listener, and he respects my desire to keep my privacy (like I do here).  Yesterday, I told him about my aunt (she's very sick, and I'm scared to death about her), and he sent me a Valentine a day early in the hopes of cheering me up.  He said he was saving it for the 14th, but decided this was better.  I'm not going to post this one....but it was super sweet and it totally made my day :)  I'm still worried sick about my aunt, but this sweetheart's kindness made me feel a hell of a lot better.  Thanks, Charles :)

Update on the Boy

I do not believe he is interested.  It's confusing and conflicting, but for all his assets, I'm not interested in dallying around my feelings with someone who appears to be more hot and cold than the Katy Perry song.  I'm not bitter or sad; just disappointed.  Still, I take great pleasure in listening to him speak in class; he still has amazing ideas and I wish he would talk more.

Happy Groundhog Day!

So, I don't know about the official predictions, but when I got up this morning, I DIDN'T see my shadow, but still went back to bed, suggesting either a certain sleep deprivation, or three more weeks of winter.

Two Weeks Until Fedora Day!

Hey, guys!  I'm not sure how many of you remember Fedora Day from last year, but Rachel and I are going to be doing it again!

Just a quick recap for everyone (whether you remember the holiday or not):

  • Fedora Day falls on February 14th
  • It's a holiday for single people (both ladies and gents)
  • Basically, you dress up really nicely, however you want, and wear a fedora
  • Valentine's Day is for couples.  Fedora Day is a celebration of individuality; it says "Just because I don't have a date on Valentine's Day doesn't mean I'm not awesome!"
  • All of you who are single on Valentine's Day are welcome to participate!
  • If you chose to celebrate Fedora Day, please take a few moments on the 14th (or a few days afterward) to tell me about it!  Post on your blog or in the comments, and if I don't follow your blog, could you post a link for me?  Thanks!
Just remember the three most important aspects of Fedora Day:
  1. Singles only (sorry couples, you have Valentine's Day!)
  2. Wear whatever you want, but you MUST have a fedora
  3. Be proud of your own unique brand of awesome!
I'll be posting about my Fedora Day, too.  I can't wait to hear from you!

Update on the Boy

He sat with me before class, and we talked a bit more, although it was not quite the same as last time....this meeting lacked the privacy of Monday (after all, we were in the middle of the English department between classes, NOT in his private smoking area).  I got him to talk a bit about his passions.  His smiles feel rare and beautiful, and it warms my heart to experience them.  His hand was swathed in bandages, and I wanted nothing more than to take care of him, to make him feel better.  (It's a strange weakness of mine.  I always say that I'm not cut out to be a mother, but whenever I see someone I care about in an injured state (even if they're just sick), I feel this overwhelming urge to "mother them".  Curse these maternal instincts!
