Library Run

Today, I picked up a few anthologies of Gothic novels, one of which includes The Castle of Otranto, Frankenstein, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Dracula, and The Turn of the Screw. The other one contains various short stories and novellas.

Thanks to Chess for recommending The Castle of Otranto and to Sarah for Dracula :3

  1. The Picture of Dorian Gray is one of my all-time favorites. The story is so masterfully crafted, and the characters are amazing. The ending just blew me away! I wasn't very familiar with the details of the story before I read it, and it was quite a treat.

  2. ...'Dorian Gray'...nice.

Next time you're in the children's section, pick up 'The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate'...it is now on my top...mmmm fifteen list anyway...wonderful book.

  3. I have to agree with your, Robby! I love The Picture of Dorian Gray, too! I'm so glad it was included in the anthology; I might not have thought of it otherwise.

  4. Steven, I'll put your book on my list as well :) I've never heard of it before; but it sounds like it'll be a good book :) Thanks for the recommendation!

  5. In college we compared Dracula (which I loved) with Interview With A Vampire, which I didn't think I would like, but it won me over. I'm not a huge fiction reader, so I haven't read any other Ann Rice novels, but that one had surprising depth.

  6. Emmles, you had a bad day? I'm so sorry to hear that. Mine was not so hot either. I had a huge party of 30 at the restaurant and they all stiffed me. I almost cried. So I feel you. I hope nothing terribly bad has happened to you. And I'm so glad you got those books. Otranto is just so over-the-top it's hilarious. I need to look at all these books you're getting, and read them myself. It's summer after all... I just feel like I don't want to read. Haha!
